Accomodations:
Accommodation for Students with Disabilities: The Americans with
Disabilities Act is a federal anti-discrimination statute that provides
comprehensive civil rights protection for persons with
disabilities. Among other things, this legislation requires that
all students with disabilities be guaranteed a learning environment
that provides for reasonable accommodation of their disabilities.
If you believe that you have a disability requiring accommodation,
please contact the Department of Student Life, Services for Students
with Disabilities, Cain Hall (979-845-1637,
http://studentlife.tamu.edu/ssd). Any student needing
accommodation due to disability, either in the classroom or during
exams should let the instructor know privately during the first week of
the semester.
Accommodation for Religious Observance: Texas HB256
(9/1/03): “An institution of higher education shall excuse a student
from attending classes or other required activities, including
examinations, for the observance of a religious holy day, including
travel for that purpose. A student whose absence is excused under
this subsection may not be penalized for that absence and shall be
allowed to take an examination or complete an assignment from which the
student is excused.” An effort will be made to accommodate
students’ needs for religious observance. Students are instructed
to contact the instructor during the first week of class in order to
make arrangements.
